September 29 2020 – FECIF/FEIFA Webinar – “ESG: the new normal in a post-pandemic world?”
To help investment advisors and insurance intermediaries prepare for forthcoming ESG regulation, and existing consumer demand, this webinar assisted attendees to understand what needs to be in place and how they presently compare with their peers.
Commencing from next year, investment advisors and insurance intermediaries will have to provide investors with information related to ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) for certain financial products and this information must allow them to make informed decisions based on these factors. The first aspects of the EU regulation imposing this will apply from March 2021, and the obligation also applies to credit institutions, investment firms and insurance undertakings.
The webinar included a summary of the most interesting findings from the unique FECIF ESG survey, conducted in the preceding two months, a Q&A with expert panellists, individual presentations from a range of market-leading companies on how they are dealing with ESG within their organisations, plus audience Q&A, with a final round up and summary of what was learned during the event.
The webinar is also available as Video on Demand for FEIFA members throughout October 2020. Please email info@feifa.eu for details.
September 15 2020 – Webinar – “COVID-19: a catalyst for dramatic change in real estate (Schroders)
COVID-19 is obviously having a dramatic effect on many, if not all, aspects of life. In the investment world it’s impact on property, not least commercial real estate, is likely to be particularly dramatic. Urbanisation has been called the most defining trend of the 21st century, some forecasts assume that 90% of the world’s population will be living in cities by the end of this century. The key question for many investors has been how they can get access to one of the world’s strongest trends.
Despite this trend, COVID-19 has dramatically impacted investment markets and real estate is no exception. Return profiles for the different sub sectors such as retail, industrial and office are moving rapidly. Previously defensive assets, like shopping centres, are now the most volatile, with income streams reducing by the day.
It is crucial that investors (and advisers) understand the long term trends that will shape real estate returns. COVID-19 is simply accelerating the adoption of the trends that were already present in the market. Schroders Global Cities investment team utilises a data driven approach to navigate these fast changing markets. The long term track record demonstrates that its approach can add value to investors in both rising and falling environments. The webinar analysed the effect of COVID-19 and ensured that advisers who attended have the necessary knowledge to advise their clients most effectively, in this area. The content was highly focused and thus extremely time-efficient with a Q&A afterwards.
This webinar is also available as Video on Demand for FEIFA members. Please email info@feifa.eu for details.
